David A. Kemp

David Andrew Kemp, 44, died at home, Monday, March 21, 2011. He was born August 8, 1966 in Peoria, Illinois, and grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota. He graduated from the St. Paul Open School and the Horst School of Cosmetology in Minneapolis. He began his career as a hair stylist in St. Paul, later moving to Duluth and working for many years at the Continental Hair Salon on East Superior Street. David had a special eye for beauty in everything he did. He loved gardening and tending his yard. He always said he was planting for the future by beginning with perennial gardens to be filled in later. He once found and nursed a baby squirrel to adulthood and enjoyed its companionship. David loved to travel and enjoyed learning about the world and keeping up with current world affairs.

David is survived by his parents, Jack and Sharon of Duluth; his brother, Paul (Wendy) of Coon Rapids; sister, Sarah (David) Speikers ; and his beloved nephews and niece, Alec, Devin and Samantha, all of Duluth.

David’s cremated remains will be placed on a coral reef at David’s request.
