

David Alfred Schwartz, age 80, of Duluth Minnesota passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, November 21st after a long battle with cancer. He was born on November 6, 1931, in Groningen, Minnesota to Charles and Adeline Schwartz, formerly of Finlayson, Minnesota.
David was a graduate of Sandstone High School in 1951. On October 10, 1955 he married Barbara Ann Townsley. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and served in U.S. Coast Guard. He worked as a millwright for US Steel for several years. In his free time, David enjoyed taking his family on vacations and enjoyed traveling around the US. He always enjoyed spending time with his wife, his children and his grandchildren.
David was preceded in death by his parents.
David is survived by his wife, Barbara Schwartz and their five children, Carol Mangham and her husband, Brian of Petosky, Michigan, Kimberly Sievert and her husband, Scott of Devils Lake, North Dakota, Patrick Schwartz of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Kerry Schwartz and his wife Debbie of Superior, Wisconsin and Mervyn Schwartz of Proctor, Minnesota. David is also survived by his ten grandchildren and nine 9 great grandchildren; 6 siblings, Tom Schwartz, Robert "Bob" Schwartz, Carol Cabak, Margie Petry, Joann Ford and Terry Schwartz.
A celebration of his life with visitation beginning at 11:00 am until the 12:00 pm funeral service at Asbury United Methodist Church, 6822 Grand Ave., Duluth on Monday November 28th. David will be laid to rest at Oneota Cemetery in Duluth, MN.
