Evelyn Kristine Peterson

Evelyn graduated from Proctor High School in 1939. On December 7, 1940 she married the love of her life, Carl “Pete” Peterson in Duluth. Together they started their family on the Peterson family farm in Midway Township. After raising her seven children, Evelyn worked at Nopeming Sanatorium taking care of TB patients for a number of years before she went back to school where she received a certificate as a Library Associate. Over the years, Evelyn served as a librarian at Duluth Central High School and Proctor High School. Evelyn and Pete were longtime members of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Proctor.

Evelyn enjoyed music and spent a lot of time attending symphony concerts, high school concerts, and productions at the Duluth Playhouse. She especially loved spending time with her family and enjoyed their gatherings at the Peterson family farm.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete; brother, Kenneth; and sister, Ione Clawson.

Evelyn will be greatly missed by her children; Mary Eblom of Esko, Kenne Jean Peterson of Chanhassen, Kristine (Michael) Graves of Hermantown, Daniel (Joni Sivanich) of Minneapolis, Carlye (Dennis Bristor) Peterson of Chanhassen, Jonathon of Midway Township, and Nikanor of South St. Paul; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Adlyne Dardis of Proctor and Louann Folkerts of St. Cloud; and “adopted” son, Dennis (Jean) VanSteenkiste.

Visitation: 1:00 until the 2:00 p.m. Memorial Service Friday, November 3, 2017 at United Lutheran Church of Proctor, 701 3rd Ave. Proctor. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Inter Faith Care Center, Carlton or United Lutheran Church of Proctor.
