She was born Nov. 18, 1908 in Duluth, to August and Anna Anderson. She was the youngest of six children and a 1928 graduate of Denfeld High School.
Frances married Ralph R. Slennes Oct. 3, 1934 at Elim Lutheran Church, Duluth. She was very civic minded and was active in PTA, Girl Scouts and various fund raising events. She was a 66 year member of Eastern Star Euclid Chapter No.56 and a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Duluth.
Frances became a widow at age 46 and at that time began working at the Duluth Clinic in the Medical Records Dept. She retired from there on Jan. 2, 1974 and began her many years of volunteer work at St. Eligius Health Center (Lake Haven Manor) in West Duluth.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; parents; two sisters; three brothers; one grandson, Steven D. Timblin; and one great-grandson, Gunner Lund.
Frances is survived by her daughter, Marilyn of Tucson, AZ; son, Dale (Ruby) Slennes of Duluth; three grandchildren: Daniel Timblin of Ft. Ripley, MN, Cheryl Slennes and Darryl Slennes of Duluth; four great-grandchildren: Nichole, Steven, Jesse and Ruby; and three great great-grandchildren: Kahlan, Scott and Harmony.
Graveside Service: 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at Park Hill Cemetery, Masonic Section, Duluth.
