Jonathan was the youngest of two sons born to Roger and Susan Swanson, fittingly born in the season which would provide him so much fun growing up, December 15, 1977.
One of Jonathan’s favorite things to do as a child was ski. He enjoyed spending as much time as he could at Chester Bowl, no matter how cold it was outside.
You could tell from an early age Jonathan had a love for others and a passion for serving . He was always putting others before himself, something that would become a major part of Jonathan’s life growing up and would continue until his death.
Jonathan graduated Magna Cum Laude from St. Cloud State but, following his heart and passion to serve, attended North Park Seminary in Chicago where he graduated with a Master’s of Divinity Degree, again with honors. After graduating from North Park Seminary, Jonathan followed his love for travel and serving others by going on mission trips to Japan, Sweden, South America, and within the United States. Jonathan loved the time he spent in Sweden and had always dreamed of going back there someday. Jonathan most recently worked for Praying Pelican Missions helping others go on mission trips as well as going to both Costa Rica and Haiti with groups.
Jonathan touched more hearts than he could have imagined during his short life on earth and will be greatly missed by countless numbers of people.
Jonathan is survived by his parents, Roger and Susan; grandmother, Ann Carlson; brother, Dan (Kristin); and nephews, Jaden, Soren, and Odin; niece, Maren; and many cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Memorial Service to be held Friday, August 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior at Salem Covenant Church in Duluth. Please leave a memory of Jonathan or words of support for the family at www.bellbrothersfuneralhome.com .
