My family grew up at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and we remember with great fondness Joyce and the contribution she made to the music program there.  She and my mother, Doris Wick were friends.  I recall after my grandmother passed away she invited us for supper with her and Bill - - it was so appropriate and comforting.  Good memories of a nice person.

My prayers go out to my cousins as they lay their mother to rest, I remember visiting when I was young, although we lost touch until recently I have fond memories of Aunt Joyce and Uncle Bill. Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers!

Though I never knew Joyce, I was one of Bill Nyquist's 9th-grade students in his Civics class at Lincoln Jr High in Duluth in 1966. Though I was unaware of his passing and therefore could not leave this remembrance at that time, I'd like to piggy-back my thanks to Bill for his role in developing my ability to present my thoughts and ideas due to his work with me and that Wollensak audio recorder. I'm now of the belief that Joyce somehow had an influence in this through her marriage to Bill.  It is appropriate that somehow I saw Joyce's obit and made the connection to Bill.  That being said, I offer my thanks for the service to their students and the important ability each of them had to "make a difference" in the lives of their students.  Peace be to their family and know that they were loved and appreciated beyond what they may have known.

I lived with The Nyquists (Bill, Joyce, Greg, and Scott) as an exchange student during 1980-81 school year. It was truly a remarkable experience and changed the course of my future life. I have achieved so much, and a lot of those achievements were contributed from my one year living with this wonderful family. I feel so grateful that this wonderful family opened doors of their home for me to live with them. Joyce, I called her Mom, was an exceptional person. She took great care of her family, and that include myself. She was very observant, attentive, and very caring. She and the family made sure that I have a correct perception and get to know what the American Family and life in America really like. I feel great loss. Mom was truly an Angel....I really miss you, Mom...

I am so sorry for your loss. May the Bible verse at Job 33:25 bring the Family comfort, when soon our loved ones will be restored to a youthful vigor.

I have  many fond memories of "Mrs Nyquist" both as my English teacher and our next door neighbor on Highland Street.. She was a wonderful teacher and Mother.   Linda Mason Pace
