

Lois Mitchell was born May 24, 1938 in Boston, Mass to Ralph and Aenona Fairbanks. She lived many places, growing up, due to her Father's business. She graduated high school from Greenwich Academy then went on to Simmons College in Massachusetts and earned her Bachelor's Degree in accounting.
She met Irvin Mitchell at a church function at the First Presbyterian church in Stamford and was married there a year later. They moved to Ridgefield, CT a few years later, then to West Redding and finally to Duluth, MN in 1997.
Lois was active in the MS Society, having been diagnosed with the disease in the early 1970's. She volunteered many years and continued her volunteer service when she and Irvin joined the Civil Air Patrol in 1987. They both rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and held positions at Wing (State) level. Both became Mission Coordinators and very knowledgeable in Search and Rescue.
Lois had two sons, David, born in '67 and Douglas, born in '70.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Ralph and her husband Irvin. She is survived by her sons, David (Tami Stanton-Gallagher) of York, PA. Douglas (Amy) of Luck, WI and her grandson, Teran, of New Richmond, WI.
Visitation: 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. Funeral Service, Saturday, May 23 in Bell Brothers Funeral Home, 601 N 56th Ave W, Duluth. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Duluth.
