
She grew up on a dairy farm in Piedmont Heights and attended Ensign Elementary, Lincoln Jr. and Denfeld High School.
She married Russell Murphy in Duluth in 1951. They met while they were both working at Gershgols, Russ was a meat cutter and Lucille was a cashier and that was the start of a beautiful love story – that grew for a lifetime.
Lucille loved to cook and bake, entertaining at her house, square dancing, and she had a great sense of wit and humor that she used to often make others laugh. She will be missed.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell; six brothers, John, Chester, Ralph, Melvin, Raymond and Clayton; three sisters, Hazel Peterson, Myrtle Bubringham and Mabel Ebmer.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou Murphy of Duluth; and by Carmen and Tom McGregor of Two Harbors and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Sunday, February 24th at the Jarvi Dowd Funeral Home, 925 E. 4th St., and continues from 10 am until the 11am Funeral Service on Monday, February 25th at the Jarvi Dowd Funeral Home.
