

She received her Bachelor’s in Education from UMD in 1968. She was a beloved teacher for over 25 years in the Proctor School system. She taught Home Economics/Family Living and earned awards such as Home Economics Teacher of the Year, Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers and was runner up for the State of Minnesota Teacher of the Year award. In June 2002, Donley was recognized for 35 years of service to the AFCS (The former Home Economics Organization). That year she was also named Outstanding Senior Citizen by the South St. Louis County Fair.
She kept in touch with her former profession as an active member of the Retired Teachers Association and Association of Family and Consumer Science. She also stayed in contact with former colleagues attending the banquet for Proctor Retired teachers. Phyllis was a member of the Solway Seniors and was an avid quilter.
She was also a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Twig. In addition, she volunteered at the Country Store at Chris Jensen Nursing Home. Volunteering for Phyllis also extended to her own family. She organized family reunions, which included over 200 members scattered throughout the country and Sweden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; parents; and brother, James Seaberg.
She is survived by her daughter, Kim (Leonardo) Lopez; and her son, Kevin (Cindy) Donley; her grandchildren: Janette, Tara, Andrea, Vanessa, Justine, Sean, Jasmin; nine great grandchildren; and sister, Dolores Cole.
Visitation: 12:00 until the 1:00 p.m. Funeral Service Tuesday, May 26th in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Twig.
