

Tom was born July 25, 1934 in Duluth, Minnesota to Thoralf and Ragna Peterson.
He attended and graduated from Proctor High School in 1952. Shortly thereafter, he started working for the DM&IR Railroad where he attained the occupation of an accounting clerk. He married the love of his life Arlene Joyce Lunke September 9, 1961 in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Proctor. Together they lived in Duluth until he retired in 1992. Along with working as an accounting clerk, he was also the secretary for the DM&IR Railroad Union. Tom served his country in the Army National Guard and the Air Force Reserve. He was a member of the Proctor Moose Lodge 1302 and the Duluth Elks Lodge 133.
He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed a nice rivalry with Arlene who loves the Vikings. During his retirement, he enjoyed being a Winter Texan in Mission, TX and living at his summer Lake Park, MN home.
Tom is survived by his wife of 52 years Arlene; daughter Corrine (Mark) Casanova of Reno, Nevada; and son Jeffrey (Julie) Peterson of Duluth; granddaughter Kelly and grandson Kyle, both of Duluth; goddaughter Susan Baker of Duluth; sister Ruby Sarazen of Proctor and many special nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 10 am with a funeral service at 11 am on Friday, May 30, 2014 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 410 North Arlington Ave., Duluth with Rev. Michael DeKraai officiating. Burial will be at Oneota Cemetery.
