
Timothy Lee Hinkley was born April 7, 1952, in Mitchell, SD. He graduated from Herreid High School in 1970 and went on study journalism at South Dakota State University. While there, he served as the editor of The Collegian, the college newspaper. Eager to start his career in news writing and reporting, Tim left college to work for several television, newspaper and radio agencies over the next several years, including South Dakota’s KELO-Land, The Argus Leader and The Prairie Pioneer. Due to many severe health issues, Tim spent the last several years of his life in an assisted living facility in Duluth, MN, where he passed away on February 2. He is survived by four sisters: Jo Ellen (Gordon) Ritter of Harlan, IA ; Margaret (Doug) Lemme of Lakewood, Co; Mary (Tom) Pfeifle of Albuquerque, NM; and Elizabeth Hinkley of Rochester, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents Don and Lucille Hinkley; a sister, Sue Kirchner Jackson; and a brother, Charles Hinkley. A service will take place at a later date in Rapid City, SD.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
