Verner John Carlson

Verner graduated in 1943 from Denfeld High School. He worked for the Soo Line as a railroad clerk for over 38 years, retiring in 1986.

On November 10, 1979 he married the love of his life Florence V. Peterson and he became an instant grandpa and father. He loved spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids.

Verner’s true love was cars and trains. He enjoyed taking pictures of them, driving them, and just reminiscing over them with a hot cup of coffee. Vern especially loved his cats and his John Deere tractor. He was very loving and generous man and will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Florence.

Verner will be greatly missed by his sons, Ken (Kathi) Peterson of Rice Lake, WI, and Steve (Barbara) Peterson of Saginaw; grandchildren, Toby Peterson, Jodi (Troy) Nelson, Becky Peterson, and John Peterson; 2 great grandchildren, Anna and Olin; and several cousins.

Visitation: 10 until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Elim Lutheran Church, 6101 Cody Street, Duluth. Interment will be in Park Hill Cemetery.
