Walter William Stano

Wally graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood class of 1948. After graduating he served for the United States Army until 1952 in the 26th Infantry Regiment driving tank.

He was in the local 346 Teamsters Union and a longtime member of the American Legion Post 71.

Wally’s favorite past time was spending time watching basketball, baseball, football, and golf. He was an especially loyal Detroit Lions and Tigers fan.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary and Ann; and brothers, Steve and Charlie.

Wally will be greatly missed by his wife, Janet (Moe) Stano of Duluth; sons, David (Leslie) of Solon Springs, and Daniel (friend, Anne) of Duluth; “Bupba” to eight wonderful grandchildren, Jessica (Wade) Chalfant, Zachary (Jamie), Abigael (Peter) Lee, Josiah, Jeremiah, Olivia, Nehemiah, and Noah Stano; five adorable great-grandchildren; and brother, Frank.
