I knew David through a friend who had a Lotus Elan being rebuilt there (I don't think the shell ever left the shop, sitting on the new frame, but that is another story), and visited several times over the years. In fact, I believe an old Volvo of mine entered the parts yard.
David was one of the most interesting, and equally personable, figures in the racing world that I have ever encountered, and a top mechanic as well. What an inspiring human being! RIP, David.

Miss you, David. Will never forget your drive in the SP8 at Knox Mountain. You were one of a kind, bud.

I was just speaking to someone who knew David perhaps 10 years ago and I dropped David's name into our conversation and was told of his passing. 

I had met David in the early 1970, and had watched him drive his Can-Am Group 7 car at the Knox Mountain Hillclimb. He was a member of our Victoria Motorsports Car club and he was interested in a club race car that I was helping to build.  He was not interested in who had the better car, he just liked to see others enjoying themselves. 

After his serious accident with his race car, he spoke to the club one night about the experience and it was very sobering. Even the 
hospital stay was sobering.  

I would see him later and have a coffee and talk about old times. What a character!  I am sorry for the fanily's loss,  I will never forget  David. He was a special person. 

I can't remember the year. It might have been around the year 2000 when I saw the Super 7 on CHEK news.
Not long after that, I went to view the car in Chemainus.
David was a warm person and very enthusiastic about the Super 7.
After David explained the build options of the Super 7,  he took me for a hair raising ride down the back roads of Chemainus. The car went air born a couple of times as I held my breath while David expertly maneuvered the windy, bumpy roads in this amazing car with a big smile on his face.
I thanked David and told him that I would seriously consider a Super 7 in the future.
Recently, I found out that David had passed away in 2016. That saddened me especially when I heard that the car would no longer be produced. I was seriously thinking of finally having one of these cars built for me. Unfortunately, I was too late.
I am thankful and privileged to have met such a talented and decent man and his passion for this amazing car. I will definitely miss David.

Am terribly sorry for David's passing away. I was a fanatic Can-Am fan and always liked when someone as he ran against the "big dogs"....

I am sorry we only learned of David's passing 16.11.15. We first met David in about 2003 or 04 on a Goldwing motorcycle ride to the island. What a fascinating individual and one who spent the time to learn about us. Subsequently we paid a visit each island visit to see what was in inventory or being worked upon. We are truly sorry to hear about this. We pass our bleated blessings on to son Jolyon, family and friends.

So sorry to hear of the loss of your father ,I met David first in 1972 when we worked together for a short time at Plimleys in Victoria , I met him again a few times over the years and last spoke to him about a year ago and we soon went back over the old times ,talking about Lotus -who will I talk to now? I used to drop my Jag off for David to fix,and always ended up with he and I talking about all those exotic cars that he knew so well for hours on end.What a shame that he has passed,a good,warm,caring person. Terry Budd,Maple Bay B.C.

I worked with David in getting ready for his first races at Mosport and on into the 74 CanAm series.  We lived only houses apart in Langford.  He was a huge asset to the motorsport community of British Columbia

For 20 yrs I have made a yearly pilgrimage to your house to check out all the wonderful cars on site. You always had a great welcoming smile. I loved your excitement and joy of life. Thank you for those wonderful memories.

So sad to hear your journey has come to it's end but you can say "WOW What A Ride!" It was an honour to know you and I'll always remember how special you are. Thanks for all the smiles and laughs...Race On!  X O

My friendship with David began at Nanaimo's Mountain Air Racing KART track at Cassidy in 1995. We had great fun at the Chemainus Grand Prix KART races David put on. The most scared I have been was in the passengers seat of his Caterham Super Seven with the supercharged Hayabusa. The fastest I have driven a car was David's car at 160 mph at the Ridge motor sports race track at Shelton Washington. We had incredible fun racing KART'S at Cheney Stadium Lakewood Washington and Monroe's Evergreen Speedway KART track. I hope someone picks up his stuff and continues on with the passion. Screw cancer! LIVE LIFE to the fullest it's not a dress rehearsal. You are dearly missed ENGLAND MAN.      David

    In high school while my friends were busy with North American Muscle cars I was hangin out at the Church works. My passion for European cars started with David. Always a supporter of the hobby you will be missed.

Portland Int'l Raceway, Portland, Oregon: I'm walking the cold pit during a ChumpCar World Series race. As I pass by the "Eh! Team" pit, I see the list of names down the left side of the car... and quite literally stop and perform a double-take, because one of the names looks familiar, from Pete Lyons's _Can-Am_: "'David Saville-Peck', of the Costello SP7 and SP8? Couldn't be... but how many people could have that name?" So I walk over, and wait for an opportunity to ask. Sure enough -- it was him. He was quite polite, and even complimented me on my knowledge of motorsport history. The next day, I brought my copy of _Can-Am_; it now bears Mr. Saville-Peck's autograph on the page covering the Costello. A consummate pro, and a gentleman racer, in all senses.
