Dorcas Jefford

It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, and Friend, Dorcas Jefford, on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, in Duncan, BC, at the age of 78. She passed surrounded by the love of her family and friends after a courageously fought battle with cancer.

Predeceased by her parents Fredrick and Gertrude, husband William, son Rodney, granddaughter Mackenzie, and sister Ruth. Dorcas will be lovingly remembered by her sons William (Wendy), Michael (Danielle), Robert, Wayne (Amanda), and Corey (Suzanne), 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, as well as siblings, nieces, nephews and extended family.

Dorcas married the love of her life, William, in 1963 and quickly started their family. They welcomed six boys before William’s untimely passing in 1971, leaving Dorcas to raise them on her own. Dorcas would do anything for her family and took on multiple jobs to make sure her sons had a happy life. She always enjoyed helping others and would do anything for someone in need. Dorcas passed at her favourite time of year, Christmas, so think of her and smile every time you see a beautifully decorated tree or the bright, shining lights and decorations on homes. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

A special thank you to long-time family friends Pastor Boyd and Sarah Tremblett, and to the nurses and doctors at Cowichan District Hospital for the compassionate care they provided to Dorcas.

A Funeral Service for Dorcas will be held at 11:00am on Friday, December 22, 2023 at the Chemainus Pentecostal Church, 9471 Chemainus Road, Chemainus, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorcas’ memory may be made to the Chemainus Pentecostal Church.
