Irene Margaret Smith

April 5, 1949 – September 2, 2013

Renie was born the second child to Robert and Shirley on April 5, 1949 in Rocky Mountain House, AB. She lived there until the age of 17 when she moved away to travel Europe and work in Jasper and Edmonton.

In the early seventies, she moved to Victoria where she met her husband Kirk. They settled in Duncan where Renie lived for 36 years and raised her two daughters.

Her love for children led to volunteering in her daughter’s classrooms which evolved into a career as an Education Assistant. Working with children became her greatest passion

Renie’s favorite times were spent with family and friends loving and laughing. She loved nature, reading, music and spending time in her garden. Above all she loved being a mother. Her most precious hours were spent hugging, kissing and loving her beautiful daughters Mya and Marisa.

Renie is survived by her daughters Mya and Marisa(Daniel), her mother Shirley Spoor, siblings Lana(Roy)Palmer, Bob(Shellie)Spoor, Joan(Mel)Sangha, Jake(Margie)Spoor, Kent Spoor, Carolyn(Michael)O’Reilly, Jim(Brad)Spoor and Jill Spoor. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews that adored her and many friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday September 8th, 2013 at 1:00 pm at First Memorial Funeral Chapel (375 Brae Road, Duncan) with reception to follow.
