Kathleen E. Wiebe
July 4, 1931 to May 10, 2023
It is with great sadness and much love that we announce the passing of Kathleen (Betty) Elizabeth Wiebe nee Kaye nee Forsen in Duncan, at the age of 91. Betty was at Cairnsmore Place and had family at her side, holding her in their arms as she left us. The staff (Jackie and Christine in particular) were exemplary in their care of Betty and her family during her passing.
Betty was predeceased by her parents Edwin Forsen and Kathleen Crawford, son Dennis Kaye, first husband Earl Kaye, and second husband George Wiebe.
She will forever be remembered by her loving family - daughter Glenna Boutilier, daughter-in-law Ruth Kaye, grandchildren Glen (Melissa) Boutilier, Rebecca (Scott) Berry, Wayne (Alma) Boutilier and Michalla (Tai) Fiebig. Great grandchildren Matthew, Amelia, Cayden, Ava, Cian and Emily who all brought her great joy. Her siblings, Ronald Forsen (Carol) of Duncan, Gladys McChesney of Victoria, Victor (Pat) Forsen of Prince George. She was a loving "Aunty Betty" to her many nieces and nephews. Her neighbours, Lois and Alex Ozirny went above and beyond helping us for the last three years of her life.
Betty was born in 1931 in Niddrie Ontario, a little 'coal and water stop' on the Canadian National Railway transcontinental main line. The family moved to Sioux Lookout when she was nine and then on to Saltspring Island in 1947. Betty graduated highschool there and married Earl Kaye in 1950. Betty and the kids moved to Victoria in 1964. She met and married George Wiebe in 1967 and lived in Langford until they found their cabin in the woods in Sooke. Betty was never happier than when she was out in the bush with George and her siblings, camping, hunting and fishing. After George passed in 2006, Betty moved to Ladysmith to be closer to Glenna. After buying a house together in Duncan in 2014, they became seriously joined at the hip.
Betty loved to travel as long as it didn't involve flying. When she could no longer camp we travelled locally and took a couple of cruises, which she loved. She could never sit still when the music started and boy could she 'cut a rug'. Watching her and brother Ron dancing at the Senior's Centre - I swear their feet never touched the floor.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 9, 2023, in Duncan at the Valley Senior Centre at 198 Government Street. It will be from 1:00 until 4:00 and everyone who knew her is welcome. Her favourite Country and Western music will be playing and what a wonderful opportunity to reminisce and have a dance in her memory.

to r.s.v.p. by June 30th.
