With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our much-loved mother, Marjory Ethel Hickson (nee Heal) at the age of 92 on November 14, 2025 in Duncan BC. She was born to Arther James Heal and Ivy Avice Heal (nee Langley) on October 2, 1933 in Kinuso, Alberta. She moved, with her family, from Edmonton to Victoria BC. She graduated from UBC with an Arts degree in 1958. After she graduated from UBC, Marj worked as a teacher in a one-room school in Summit Lake BC. In Vancouver, in 1960, she married Kenneth John Hickson. She taught elementary school in Port Coquitlam and Maple Ridge. Later, she ran a family owned greenhouse business (Garibaldi Nursery) in Maple Ridge with her husband. Then, she worked at the Variety Farm Training Centre in Delta at their greenhouses. Marj loved to garden and always looked forward to Spring each year so she could plant her flowers and vegetables. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years in 2016. Marj is survived by her sister Elveyn, her 4 children Brian (Debbie), Wayne (Leah), Brenda, Craig (Darcy), 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
