Helen Louise (Frazier) McCart, a long-time resident of Duncanville, TX died peacefully on August 28, 2017 at 73 years young. After recovering to a modified level of independence and returning home after a stroke in 2015, she suffered several medical challenges. A second stroke in early 2017, and later a series of illnesses and hospitalizations resulted in the family making the difficult yet compassionate decision to move her to hospice. She left this earth after 17 days in the care of the wonderful Harbors Hospice team at Methodist Charlton, surrounded by love and with the peace that comes from a life lived on your own terms. Though there will be pain and sadness, we know that she is at peace and that her struggles are at an end. She has left us the beautiful gift that is the legacy of her love and perseverance.
Helen was born on July 7, 1944 in Alameda, CA, the eldest child of Raymond and Elizabeth (Harrell) Frazier, who both preceded her in death. She graduated from Kimball High School in Dallas, TX in 1962, and shortly thereafter joined the U.S. Postal Service, where she proudly worked until her retirement in 2000.
Helen is survived by her children, Liz (Sundown) Freeman and family of Cedar Hill, TX, and Kevin & Darren Mitcham and their families, of Duncanville, TX.
A funeral is scheduled for 11:00 am Friday, September 1, 2017 at David Clayton & Sons in Duncanville, TX. A 1:00 pm graveside service will follow at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, TX. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life with an informal gathering following services at the Frazier residence in Duncanville, TX.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Red Cross (redcross.org) to assist with Hurricane Harvey relief efforts underway in Texas.
