Major Robert G. Bates

Major Robert G. Bates Born August 16, 1926 in Konawa, Oklahoma and passed away May 31, 2017 in Dallas, Texas at the age of 90. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Carolynn Lenore Bates on April 9, 2016. Survived by daughter Jean Villa and husband Rick, son Robert Bates, daughter Jennifer Williams and husband Michael, 3 grandchildren Alan Villa, Sam Villa and Taylor Holcomb, 2 great grandchildren Hudson Villa and Blake Villa, 2 sisters Patricia Stumpp and Jeanie Lambert and husband John and many other family members and friends. Bob honorably served his country in the United States Army for 20 years including 2 tours in Vietnam. He also taught the Junior ROTC program at Duncanville High School where he passed on his many years of knowledge to his students. Bob had many passions including golf, OU Football, the Dallas Cowboys and spending time with his beloved wife Carolynn. Family will receive friends from 5-7 PM on Monday June 5, 2017 at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 11 AM Tuesday June 6, 2017 in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at 1:30 PM (LANE # 3) at DFW National Cemetery where full military honors will be rendered as befitting his honorable and faithful service to his country.
