Marjorie Florence Young

Marj (Nana) died Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the age of 92. The family will host a Memorial Visitation at the MARLATT FUNERAL HOME, 615 Main Street East (east of Sanford), Hamilton on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Marj requested that no service be held. Marj was born in Woodstock, Ontario September 24, 1919. The daughter of Reverend John and Ethyl Morris, she is survived by her sister Nora Jeffery, and brother Edward Morris. During WWII, Marj was in nursing training in Hamilton where she met her husband Dr. F. M. (Mac) Young. They enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling and socializing with a close group of lifetime friends. Marj and Mac are survived by their four children Peter; Rob and his wife Deborah, their children Rebecca and Trevor; Lisa and her husband Jeff Jenkin, their children Hugh, Tristan and Seamus; Tim and his wife Carolyn, their children Sandra, Abigail and Emily. Marj was an active member of the Hamilton Golf and Country Club, Hamilton Thistle Club, Hamilton Art Gallery, I.O.D.E., Hamilton Garden Club, and most recently a resident of the Meadowlands Retirement Residence in Ancaster, Ontario. Marj loved life, her family and her friends; she enjoyed a good, slightly “saucy” joke and from time to time a dram of good Scotch. She will be dearly missed, but never, will she be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army would be appreciated.
