FRY, Shirley Margaret – Surrounded by loving family, on Sunday October 15, 2017, at Christian Horizon House, in her 70th year. Shirley is survived by her brother Paul Fry, sister-in-law Helen Fry, her niece Christina (James), nephew Edward and great niece Eleanor. She is predeceased by her parents Donald and Frances Fry and her brother Russell Fry.
We would like to take the opportunity to thank all of Aunt Shirley’s support workers. You provided much needed light and hope in a life that was full of struggle and challenge. Since the closure of the institution you have been with her day after day, allowing her to be herself and experience what life had to offer. You cared for her when she was sick and kept her safe when she was mobile. You became her family and loved her as much as dad did. We thank you for all you did to help her and for giving us the opportunity to get to know her untethered, unsedated and happy. We would have never had that opportunity if it wasn’t for your love and support.
We will all miss Aunt Shirley and her tea obsession, Kung Fu grip and cheeky smile. Shirley was larger than life and she will be remembered for her infectious cackle, her mischievous blue eyed sparkle, as well as her uncanny ability to down a coke in lightning speed and share a lady like belch with all. She had a great love for people and animals, especially babies and puppies.
The family will receive friends at the MARLATT FUNERAL HOME, 615 Main Street East (east of Sanford), on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 10:30 am. At Woodland Cemetery, 700 Spring Garden Road, Burlington. In Shirley’s memory, donations may be made to either the Christian Horizons Marlowe Home, the Juravinski Cancer Centre or the charity of your choice.
