OBITUARY Godwin, NC Mr. Edward Oliver “Ray” Stewart, age 90, of Godwin died Friday Evening, June 12, 2015 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield. Ray was born February 5, 1925 in Harnett County the son of the late Lucian & Minnie Godwin Stewart and is preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Hudson Stewart. He is also preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters. “Ray” showed a great love for God, and Family including numerous nieces, nephews and countless friends. He was an avid Horseman and owner of Classic Carriage Services and a leader of various Horse and Buggy Clubs. He coordinated many long distant Group Trail rides including Cape Fear River nature trail rides. Ray was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving his country during World War II. He was an active member, deacon, and trustee of the Dunn Advent Christian Church and was a board member and contributed to the development of Camp Dixie. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. at Dunn Advent Christian Church with Rev. Michael Whitley officiating. Burial will follow in Benson City Cemetery in Benson. He is survived by: 2 Sons: Rocky Stewart & Terry Stewart of Godwin, NC “ A Daughter:” Sue H. Jernigan of Dunn, NC Grandchildren: Mary Amanda & Wayne Mosley, Jordan Garrett & Courtney Stewart, Andrew Ryan & Alexandra Stewart, Justin Edward Stewart, Hunter Bryce Stewart and Meredith Katherine Stewart. Great Grandchildren: Gage Andan Mosley, Cohen Wayne Mosley & Steele Garrett Stewart The family will receive friends Monday Evening, June 15, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Cromartie Miller Funeral Home in Dunn, NC.
