Hubert Parker Dennis

Coats, NC Mr Hubert "Burt" Parker Dennis, age 83, of Coats,NC, passed away at his home December 14, 2014 with his family by his side. A native of Harnett County he was born December 19, 1930 to the late Bascom Wade Dennis and Flossie Rebecca Roberson Dennis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Denning Dennis, six brothers and two sisters. Hubert was a retired Physical Therapy Assistant. Over the course of his career he worked at the Womack Army Hospital in Fort Bragg, NC, Good Hope Hospital in Erwin, NC and Advanced Physical Therapy in Smithfield, NC. In his early years he was a Nursing Assistant and a Barber. Regardless of his position or employer, he was always serving others. He was a member of St. Matthews PFWB Church where he served in several capacities over the past fifty years including but not limited to Deacon, Choir Director and Church Pianist. While serving others was his nature, he had three great loves in his life: his Lord and Savior, his wife of fifty-one years and music. He sang and/or played piano with several southern gospel groups including his family group, The Tri-Tones. He was loved by many and respected by all. His smile was contagious and his sense of humor always had a healing affect. He was a loving and compassionate son, brother,husband, brother-in-law, father and grandfather, the best uncle to many and true friend to so many more. He lived his life to be a testimony of Christ's love for all; and his testimony touched countless lives. While he will be greatly missed he will never be forgotten. He is survived by two sons, David Glenn and wife Cindy of Coats, Douglas Earl and wife Jackie of Dunn; a daughter, Patti Dennis-Godwin and husband Sonny of Erwin; an adopted son Bill House and wife Annette of Coats; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brother Earl Dennis and wife Edna of Tulsa, OK. and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on December 17, 2014 from 6-8 pm at Cromartie Miller Funeral Home in Dunn. The Celebration of Life service will be held at St. Matthews Church in Erwin on December 18, 2014 at 2pm. Burial will follow at Coats Cemetery.
