

Mr. James Percy Whittenton, Sr., age 73, of 901 Neighbors Rd., Dunn died Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Betsy Johnson Hospital in Dunn. Mr. Whittenton was born July 1, 1941 in Harnett County the son of the late Jim & Ruth Surles Whittenton and is preceded in death by a Brother, David Whittenton, Sr. Percy was a N.C. National Guard Veteran and was the owner of Whittenton Builders. He was very active in the Dunn Community, he was a charter member of Mary Stewart Lions Club, He was the Vice-President of the Harnett County Home Builders Association and had served as President in the past. He was a very active member of St. Matthew Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church in Erwin where he was a Deacon, Choir Member, & was a past Sunday School Superintendent. He and his wife were founding members of Faith Baptist Church and September 17, 2000 they were honored by the church for all the things they had done for the church in the past with a Percy & Margaret Whittenton Day. But most of all out of all his achievements Percy was a devoted Husband, Father & Grandfather. His relationship with God and his family were the most important thing in his life. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 16, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Cromartie Miller Funeral Home in Dunn with the Rev. Jerome Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Devotional Gardens Cemetery He is survived by his wife of 52 Years: Margaret Norris Whittenton of the home. 2 Sons: Percy Whittenton, Jr. of Raleigh, NC Todd Whittenton & (Wife) Wendy of Dunn, NC Grandchildren: Jordan Marie Whittenton, Brea Taylor Whittenton, Riley Todd Whittenton, Katelyn Blaire Monds & Nicholas Allen Monds A Sister: Edna Mae Tart of Coats, NC The family will receive friends Friday Evening, May 15, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Cromartie Miller Funeral Home in Dunn and at other time at the home.
