Dunn, NC Mr. John Don Layton, age 77, of the Plain View Community, died Tuesday Evening, January 5, 2016 at his home. John was born in Wilmington, NC on January 2, 1939 the son of the late Robert & Juanita Cameron Butler and is preceded in death by a son, Charles Layton, a daughter, Tammy Dale Hobbs and a brother, Bud Layton. John was retired military serving 14 years in the Navy and 14 years in the Army. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11:00 am at Spring Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Martin Groover officiating. Burial will follow in Tew Cemetery. He is survived by: His Wife: Linda L. Layton of the Home. Daughters: Donna Barker of Bay City, Wi., Lisa Mahoney of Chesapeake , Va. & Michelle Brown of White Oak, NC Sons: John Layton, Jr. of Wichita, Kansas; Billy Layton of Pemberton, N.J.; Thomas Layton of Whiteville, NC Step-Sons: Billy, Jerry & Chris Dale all of Dunn, NC 20 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren Sisters: Dale Book of Kansas, Cynthia Kinlaw of St. Pauls, NC, Debra Butler of Holdens Beach, NC, Gail Swaney of Denton, NC, Brothers: Carl Layton of Kansas, Bobby Butler of White, Oak, NC, Lynn Butler of St. Paul, NC, David Butler of Aberdeen, NC, John Butler Fayetteville, NC The Family will receive friends Friday, January 8, 2016 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Cromartie Miller Funeral Home in Dunn and at other times at the home.
