It is with much sadness that Mother (Annabelle Knight) and I read about the passing of Dr. Yoder. We will never forget his kindness, intelligence, and professionalism as our pastor at the Pineville Presbyterian Church. When my father (Robert Knight), who was a charter member of the Pineville Presbyterian Church, died unexpectedly, Dr. Yoder went above and beyond for our family. He conducted the funeral in just the manner in which Daddy would have wanted--right down to the perfectly printed paper program.
I will never forget watching Dr. Yoder on his knees using a hammer to chip away at the ice on our front steps that frigid day in January of 1985 when Daddy passed away from a massive heart attack. That's just how Dr. Yoder was--caring, compassionate, and loving toward his congregation.
It was a joy knowing the Yoder family. We cherish the good times we had as their church family. Every Christmas, we would look forward to receiving Dr. Yoder's Christmas card and message. It is with sadness that his Christmas cards will be no more. . .
