To the Englert Family,

Our sincere condolences in the loss of your father. 
Ann remembers him well as the smiling, friendly man that delivered the dairy products to her home so many years ago. While we only met him a handful of times in the recent past, he was always pleasant, and had a good story or joke to tell. 
He will be greatly missed by all.

We were truly saddened to learn of Mr. Englert's passing one of our World War II Heroes.  It was truly and honor and privilege to have escorted him on October 13,2012 to see his memorial. My Papa
As the oldest of his grandchildren, I had the privilege of growing up in the eyes of someone who at the time I didn't know would help shape my life. Through his actions, I learned so much but most of all I learned to be happy and to enjoy every second of life.  As a kid I spent countless weekends at my grandparents' house, swimming in their pool and enjoying good ol fashioned bbq cookouts with hot dogs, hamburgers, and the famous German potato salad.  There were times when my sister and I had friends come with us and Nana and Papa always made everyone feel welcome.  In  high school, my sister and I lived with Nana and Papa for a time while our house was being built.  I can still remember getting woken up every morning by Papa and he was already making us something to eat with a smile on his face. I loved our early morning conversations about school, the news, and just life in general.  He always started the day off for us on the right foot.  I loved seeing him on Wednesday's for the milk run while on summer vacation. He always let me back in the milk truck to pick out my new favorite ice cream and as my mom often said “Dad, he has enough!” Papa always snuck it in for me.  I went on many milk runs with him through the years and while I didn't know it at the time, watching how he interacted with the public and made everyone he came into contact with feel important, help shape the man I am today.  

I can also still remember the time when I moved back to Buffalo in 2002 and I lived with Papa for a few months.  I will always treasure those days as I wasn't working and I got to spend countless days and night with him.  I remember each night we would watch the nightly talk shows such as Hannity and Bill O'Reilly.  We had so many late night discussions on what was wrong with the world! Now if only Papa could solve the worlds problems!   Last year when I came to visit Buffalo, I didn't have a chance to tell Papa I was on my way.  So I decided to surprise him at his house in hopes he was home.  I can still remember walking up the driveway and seeing him walking out of his house to greet me with that big ol' Papa smile.  His face lit up and he did as he always did, made you feel welcome and started offering drinks out of the fridge!

While I am deeply saddened I won't get a chance to physically see him or talk to him again, I am so grateful that I had the honor of knowing him for 39 years of my life.  I feel that I have learned so much from him and not only had a great Papa but a great mentor for my life.  I know he is enjoying being reunited with his one true love and I am sure they have a lot to catch up on!  I will miss him greatly but know when I need a little help in this journey through life; I need not look far as my Papa is still right there with me, just as he always has been.   I love you Papa and I will continue to do what you have done, smile day after day.

Jim, so sorry to hear about your Dad.  He always had a great story to tell.  He was a good man!  We are sorry for your loss.

"Uncle Urby" delivered milk to our house and even put it inside our refrigerator.Even asked my wife if she wanted the old leftover peas discarded.

My family was a customer of Englerts dairy for a long time.HERBIE always had a smile on his face everytime he made a delivery to our home.One time he graciously invited us to his home to go swimming in his pool.He was a part of my life growing up.I will never forget him and his smile. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family.

Paul & Denise and the ENTIRE Englert family, we are so sorry for the loss of your wonderful father and grandfather. He was an extraordinary man. So full of life. He was so fortunate to have lived to see so many events happen within his children's families. He was a comedian, always telling a good joke. Mostly I loved the one about how it came to be, that he and Eileen had so many children!! I will never forget his happy face delivering the milk to the tavern! He always called me Nancy with the laughing eyes! He will be missed!!

I am sending my thoughts and prayers to my dear friends Jeanne and Jim. I had the pleasure to be around Herb when I lived in Greenville and we always had a good laugh! He was a sweet man and I will miss him! I know he loved Jeanne so much and vise versa. He will be greatly missed. I know he will be close in spirit and we will see him again.. I am so sorry Uncle Urbie has passed. He was a wonderful man! I will always remember the great times we had when we were kids at your house, the great jokes, his great smile.
