

He was born on December 25, 1925 in Batavia N.Y.,and moved to Buffalo in his early teens and spend a great deal
of time with his grandfather Earl Norton growing up. He was a graduate of Pine Hill High School and was a gymnast. He
went into the Army after graduation and received an honorable discharge May 22, 1946. He met his wife, Marie, on
Labor Day Weekend of 1948 and they married October 15, 1949 at St. Aloysius R.C. Church. He ushered and devoted his time to the Catholic Charities at St. Aloysius. Walter was employed by Siegfried Construction Co. and was a carpenter for over 50 years. He built his family homes nights and weekends. He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters. Walter worked on the Old Memorial Auditorium and was instrumental in raising the box seats, and worked on the Buffalo subway system and many other projects in Buffalo. He was a former member and officer of the Cheektowaga Lions Club. Walter then became a member of St. Gregory the Great R.C. Church, made Mission II and worked every mission until just recently. He was a sacristan at St. Greg's and served the 8 am Mass and lead the rosary after Mass for many years. He received the Book of Golden Deeds Award from the Erie-Niagara Sunrise Exchange Club for those who did exceptional service in the community as “unsung heros”. Walter was a Eucharist minister and named to the St. Gregory’s Twelve for dedication and service to his parish. He was also a member of the Marriage Prep Team, a greeter, an usher, a member of the Holy Name Society, and was on the decoration committee at St. Gregory's Church. Walter handcrafted the Ambry and donated it to
St. Gregory’s Church. He was awarded the St. Joseph The Worker Award by the Bishop.
He donated over 50 gallons of blood, was an avid golfer, and a member of the St. Greg’s and ECC golf leagues.
He was a ballroom dancer and dance instructor. He was a member of the Dance Master's of America, the
Fifth Nighters Dance Club, Roycroft Dance Club and the Amherst Dance Club since the 1970’s.
He was a past President of the Edelweis ski club and cross country skied in the Alps.
He is survived by his loving wife Marie (nee Fridey) Brewer, two sons, John (Kris) Brewer, James (Deborah) Brewer, a daughter, Deborah (Robert) Grunthaner; grandfather of Julie (Richard) Bush, Jeffrey (Griselda) Brewer,
Tricia (Nick) Fourman, Kerri Affronti ,Timothy Brewer and Mark (Amanda Lowe) Affronti, great- grandfather of 8.
Brother of Virginia (Alfred) Rigoni, Donald (Pearl) Brewer and the late Ronald (late Dolores) Brewer. Friends
may call on Wednesday and Thursday from 5-8 PM at the Dengler, Roberts Perna Funeral Home, 8630 Transit Road,
(½mile north of Maple Rd.). A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated on Friday at 9:00AM at St. Gregory the Great Church, Williamsville, N.Y.(Please assemble at the Church). Memorials may be made to the Hospice Buffalo,
