James J. Stoll (Jim, Jimmy John, Uncle Jimmy) passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. Jim was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish with his grandkids. He was a thoughtful man who often showed up unannounced with a freshly baked pie, doughnuts, or other assorted goodies to brighten your day. He had a gift for storytelling and would often leave people smiling and laughing so hard their cheeks hurt. Jim spent his life working for the Village of East Aurora, and if you happen by a drainage intake with a wavy pattern, that was Jim's infamous signature, which he called the "Sicilian Squiggle." Jim is survived by his children Travis Stoll (Ellen) and Kate Halladay (Ona), and his grandchildren Aubrey and Marley Stoll and Lennon and Harvey Halladay, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by brothers Steve (Nancy) Stoll and George (Marjorie) Stoll, sister Kathy Weller, and nieces and nephews. Services and a celebration of Jim’s life will be held privately with his family and close friends in the future.
