Katie Durkin

Katherine “Katie” Elizabeth Durkin was born on February 23rd, 2006 to Jeff and Ellen Durkin. Katie was a funny, creative, quirky, bright, always happy, loving kid who was beloved by all who came to know her. Katie loved her many friends, her family, soccer, softball, skiing, riding her four wheeler, and playing with her American Girl Dolls. She was always helpful, generous and kind and was the light and love of our lives. Katie made an indelible mark on our world, and the lives of everyone around her. Katie is remembered by all who knew her. Dad Jeff, Mom Ellen, Sisters Sarah and Julia, Gramma Chere, Papa Spike and Grammy Jo, Gramma Beth , Mrs. Gail and all her Aunts and Uncles.

Friends may call Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Wood Funeral Home 784 Main St. East Aurora. Friends are invited to attend a funeral service Monday,11 am at the Crossroads Christian Church 1050 Girdle Rd., Elma. There has been a fund established to receive donations toward the “Katie Durkin Memorial Athletic Park" to be constructed at the Wales Primary School where Katie attended for 4 years. The Wales Primary School is well recognized in the Iroquois School District as a special place, comprised of thoughtful administrators, professional educators, and an engaged parent community. However, other than two small climbing playgrounds, there are no athletic field provision of any kind. No soccer field, track, baseball diamond, or even a basketball net. As such, in honor of Katie, the family is asking for donations to be made to the “Katie Durkin Memorial Athletic Park” at Wales Primary. There is no better way to honor our little girl, who loved soccer and softball, and at the same time give to the school community a needed on site resource. It needs to be something of scale and quality to adequately tribute an amazing kid. We are only limited by our ability to dream big, and by the generosity of the community.Donations can be made payable and sent to:
