Wednesday afternoon, April 13th, Alice (Mulholland) Bruno found her angel wings and flew to meet our heavenly father. Alice was under the care of Hartford Hospital when her battle with a brief illness, came to an end. She was 72 years old. The beloved wife of Nicholas Bruno, she was born in Liverpool England, November 21st, 1938 to the late Michael and Mary Kathleen (McMahon) Mulholland.
Alice met the love of her life, Nicholas at Sage Allen where she worked, marring him in 1964. They moved to East Hartford in 1977 where they raised their adored daughter, Kathleen. Alice was devoted to her family, cherishing time spent with them, especially her five grandchildren. Those who knew Alice are familiar with her compassion and generosity. She continually placed the needs of others before her own needs and offered support to everyone. As the rock of her family, others came to her for guidance, shelter, an ear to listen, and a shoulder to lean on. She always opened her heart to family members during their time of need and did everything she could to help her loved ones. She was a devote Catholic who never forgot her English heritage. She continuously drank coffee from a tea cup, only complete with a proper saucer.
Alice is survived by her husband Nicholas; her daughter Kathleen Bruno; her grandchildren, Nicholas Luciano, Adrianna Rodriguez, Mariah Bruno, Tia Rodriguez, Taylor Bruno; her sisters, Eileen Spencer and her husband Jack, Bernadette Mulholland, Mary Shaw; her sister in-law Frances Hobbs; her brothers in-law Louis Bruno, Daniel Bruno; her nieces Collette Spencer, Robin Landrie; her nephews, Darren Spencer and his wife Elaine, Andrew Shaw, Bobby, Joey, Jim and Danny Jacobson, Anthony and Brian Bruno; her great niece Ellie Mae Spencer; her great nephew Zach Spencer and her dearest friend Barbara Cotoia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 16th, at 9 am, at St. Christopher Church, 538 Brewer St., East Hartford. Friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Silver Lane Cemetery. Calling hours are private and will be at the convenience of the family.
