Aline Dorothy Lamont Entress, age 91, died peacefully on December 11th , 2011 at the Crestfield Rehabilitation Center, where she spent the last few weeks of her life. Aline was born and raised in Toronto, by her Scottish immigrant parents, the late Janet and James Lamont. She married Paul Wadsworth Entress in 1948 and they made their home in New England. She and Paul spent 47 years in South Windsor, CT, and then for the past two years lived in Glastonbury, CT, at Rockhaven apartments.
Aline often worked as a bookkeeper, and as a younger woman, played piano and guitar. She attended the Christian Science Church for many decades. But her primary mission while on this earth was to care for her family as a loving and selfless daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She and Paul opened their home to Aline’s mother, Jenny, for thirty years, until she passed away at age 107. In 1999 they opened their home to their daughter and grandsons, who remained there for ten years. Aline’s joy came from seeing those around her happy and flourishing. Throughout most of her life, she reached out to her family and friends. Even as her memory faded, she asked about the welfare of those closest to her and retained her sense of humor and sweet smile.
In addition to her loving husband, Paul, Aline is survived by three children, Robert Entress of Glastonbury, Lorne Entress and his wife Barbara Entress of Glastonbury and Robin Entress and her husband, Andrew Garretto of South Windsor. She also leaves two grandsons, Christopher and Nicholas Soverns, who now own Aline and Paul’s South Windsor home.
A memorial service will be held at The Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Turnpike, Glastonbury, at 11AM on Saturday, December 17, 2011. A time of visitation will be held from 10:30am until the time of service. Burial is private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the non-profit Upson Rockhaven Inc, 349 Hubbard St., Glastonbury, CT 06033 (the senior community where they lived).
