Barbara Hooker

Barbara S. Hooker, 95, of East Hartford, wife of the late Herbert C. Hooker passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Hartford Hospital surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Myrtle and Chauncey Smith of Barton, VT.

She is survived by two daughters and husband, Jean and Warren Burdick and Nancy Shanahan and three grandchildren Deborah and husband Edward Bates, Bryan Sneider and Brett Sneider as well as three great-grandchildren, Kaelyn, Samantha and Ryland Bates.

She taught 1st grade for 38 years, three of which were in West Windsor, VT and 35 years in Manchester, CT. She was an active member of South Congregational Church of East Hartford serving on many Boards and Committees.

Barbara was very appreciative of her neighbors as well as her friends at South Congregational Church. The family would like to thank her wonderful caregivers, Betty and Agnes as well as Betty’s dog, Bambi who brought Barbara much joy. The family appreciates the wonderful care she received at Hartford Hospital.

There are no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held at South Congregational Church, 1301 Forbes St., East Hartford on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 11am.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Memorial Fund at the church.
