

Beatrice Animwaa Boadu, 70, of East Hartford, CT, passed away on January 1, 2025, after complications from a sudden illness. Beatrice was born on November 24, 1954 in Kwahu Mpreaso, Ghana. After graduating from Mancell Girls Vocational School in 1964, she embarked on a journey that highlighted her creativity and resilience. After graduating with a vocational education, she started her career as a seamstress in Kumasi, Ghana, focusing on children’s clothing. Her entrepreneurial spirit soon led her to specialize in Kente cloth and wholesale fabrics, a passion that took her across the African continent, including Nigeria, Togo, and Benin, and marked the beginning of a 30-year career in the textile and fashion industry. In 1981, Beatrice met her spouse, Kwame Ntansah, in Kumasi. Beatrice and Kwame went on to have two children, Akuamoah Kwame Boateng and Charity Afi Ntansah. In 2016, Beatrice retired and relocated to the United States to be closer to her children. She spent her time helping to raise her grandchildren, nurturing her Christian faith, and continuing to inspire those around her with her kindness and strength. Beatrice is survived by her children, her grandchildren, and her brothers and sisters.
Services will be held at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home on Saturday, February 1st, 2025 from 8 AM- 11AM. With a prayer Service starting at 10AM
Beatrice will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and a trailblazer. May her soul rest in perfect peace.
