Bernice Louise Rice

Bernice (Bunny) Rice, 76, beloved wife of 55 years to Bert Rice, passed into peaceful rest on Monday, May 12th, at Hartford Hospital surrounded by family. Born in Hartford, then resided in East Hartford for 55 years with her husband and family. She was a people person and was loved by all. Everywhere she went or worked she made many friends. She worked at many Hartford restaurants. She loved camping each summer near the shore. She also loved doing craft shows each fall and because of these activity’s made her many friends.

She leaves behind her husband Bert, son Michael and daughter Karen Willcox, most of all her one and only granddaughter Ashley Rice. She was oldest of 3 sisters and was predeceased by Patricia Leach and she leaves behind Nancy Warren and Jim of Colchester also many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 19th, from 5 to 7:30PM, at Benjamin J. Callahan Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, CT. A Funeral Service will follow at 7:30PM at the funeral home. Burial is private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to East Hartford Fire Department Medical Service, 31 School St., East Hartford.
