

Betty D. Naples, beloved wife of 49 years to Philip V. Naples and of Glastonbury, passed away on Sunday October 17, 2010. She was born in Attleboro, MA on April 2, 1937daughter of the late Carl Matthew and Florence (DeLuca) Clarkson. Betty was raised in Massachusetts and received her Bachelor’s Degree from the American International College. She worked in the personnel department at the Armory in Springfield, as a secretary at Buxton Leather in Massachusetts and as an assistant at the Bookrack in Glastonbury. In 1958 she was Miss Holyoke and on Sept. 16, 1961 she wed her loving husband Philip. She loved her arts and crafts becoming an accomplished crocheter along with sewing and knitting. She was also an avid reader. Above all she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her husband Philip: a brother and his wife Kenneth and Beverly Clarkson of Hamden, MA: her two daughters Laurie and husband Alex Romero of West Springfield, MA, Debra Lee Chapman and husband Jim Elton of Marlborough, CT: a son Philip D. and wife Hope Naples of Tampa Bay, FL: eleven grandchildren : Antonio, Thomas, Matthew, and Alexis Romero; Desiree, Dominique, David and Rachel Chapman; and Khalia and Katherine Elton: great granddaughters Elizabeth Chapman and Rosemarie Avery: brother’s in law and their wives Nick and Cathy Naples of Glastonbury and John and Rita Naples of Portland, ME.
Family and friends are invited on Thursday (Oct. 21st) from 4-7 p.m. to the Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Turnpike, Glastonbury. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her memory may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, NY, NY 10004.
