Carol R. Haviland, 79, of East Hartford died January 28, 2023 with family by her side. She was born in Hartford on February 17, 1943 to the late William and Catherine (Sheldon) Richards. She graduated from East Hartford High School. A devoted daughter, wife, mother and proud grandmother, she was an active member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, where she taught nursery school. She loved camping trips with her family and close friends, traveling and shopping.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Howard D. Haviland Jr. of East Hartford; son Timothy Haviland and his wife Dawn Klimkiewicz; son Michael Haviland and his wife Jennifer White-Haviland; son Peter Haviland; and grandchildren Peter Haviland Jr., Vanden Haviland, Zachary Haviland, Benjamin Haviland, Brooke Haviland and Zeeva Haviland; sister-in-laws Doris Timbrell, Beth Harlow, Harriet Gagnon; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved son Mark Haviland; brother Rev. William Richards Jr. and his wife Phoebe Richards, and brother-in-laws, Ed Timbrell, Austin Harlow and George Gagnon.
