Daniel Carey Thomson, age 48 was born on October 20, 1963 in Walnut Creek CA. He passed away at home in Glastonbury CT after a lengthy illness on February 17, 2012. Dan grew up in Westlake Village, CA. Dan graduated from Westlake High School class of 1982, and attended George Washington University but graduated from Whitworth University Spokane, WA in 1986. He went on to proudly receive his MBA from Centenary College in 2006.
While working for EDS and General Motors from 1988 until 2008, his career transferred him and his family all over the country. He lived in Westport CT, Shelby Township MI, Chanhassen MN, Mount Arlington NJ, and Glastonbury CT.
Dan is survived by his only son Dayton Carey Thomson, mother Mary Ellen Mays, stepfather William Mays, brother Scot Thomson, sisters Suzanne Bjork and Janette Herring, step sisters Karol Mays Pierce and Kathy Mays McBride as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Dan is preceded in death by his beloved father Carey Thomson and dear brother Donald Thomson.
He will always be remembered for being a kind soul who had a great laugh and always a warm smile. One who would give a homeless man the sweater off his back so he would stay warm and then freeze the rest of the night at an outdoor concert. He was a great father who loved his son dearly, making time to coach and if not on the field assisting, he could always be found in the stands watching his son's t-ball, soccer, basketball and lacrosse games as he grew up.
The inurnment of his ashes will be held at a later date at The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Spokane WA.
