

David Lee Charest, 49, a longtime Greenfield resident, passed away unexpectedly Monday January 4, 2016. He was born in Manchester, New Hampshire a son of Patricia (Mailloux) Charest and the late David U. Charest. Dave was a self-employed drywall contractor and co-owner with his brother Dana of D & D Drywall. Dave was full of life, adventures and a fun loving person. His love for family was unconditional. He was a loyal and honest friend, the best anyone could ask for. All who had the pleasure of meeting Dave knew that he was a genuine man, beloved husband, loving father, and caring son.
Dave was an avid sports lover and played many sports throughout his life. He had a special love for basketball and golf. As a father, he was intricately involved in all of his children’s sporting events, many times as a coach. He was a devoted and supportive father. Dave was a fun loving, hardworking “big kid”. He loved the beaches of Maine and camping with his wife Nicole and his children. He enjoyed fishing, boating and cruising on the Harley.
In addition to his mother Patricia of Charlemont, he leaves his beloved wife Nicole (Day) Charest, his loving daughter and son, Eve and Maxwell Charest, his three sisters and three brothers, Tricia Carpenter of Lansdowne, PA, Kristen Brown of Gill, MA, Becky Charest of Austin, TX, Dana Charest of Bernardston, MA, Jesse Joe Charest of Holbrook, MA, David Dylan Blair of Palm Harbor, Florida and his mother in law and her husband Linda and Kevin Molloy of Turners Falls, MA, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father in law Gene Day.
Funeral services will be Monday January 11, at 11AM at Our Lady of Peace Church, 90 7th Street, Turners Falls, MA. Burial is private. Visiting hours will be Sunday, January 10th from 2-5PM at the Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home, 87 Franklin St., Greenfield, MA.
