

Elizabeth Timmerman, 95, of East Hartford passed away on March 27, 2023 at Salmon Brook Health and Rehab in Glastonbury with her family by her side. Born in Springfield, MA to the late Albert and Cora (Jerdo) Quinlan, Elizabeth attended Cathedral High School and graduated in 1945. She later attended Providence Hospital School of Nursing in Holyoke, MA with about a dozen other women and obtained her nursing license in 1949. As soon as she graduated, Elizabeth enlisted in the US Army and served in Tokyo and Fukuoka, Japan from 1951-1953. Elizabeth was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant. After her service in the Army, Elizabeth met and married fellow Army veteran Harry J. Timmerman in 1957. Elizabeth was tragically widowed in 1973 losing her beloved Harry. While raising her three kids, Elizabeth attended Manchester Community College and obtained an Associate of Science degree in 1978. Elizabeth worked at the V.A. Hospital in Rocky Hill for many years and retired at 62 years old. In her spare time, Elizabeth loved to travel and regale her tales to her friends and family. She traveled all over Europe, Hawaii, and across the United States with her daughter, Kathleen. Elizabeth is survived by and will be dearly missed by: her son, Henry Timmerman, of South Glastonbury; daughters Kathleen Timmerman, of Glastonbury and Mary Perry of Mashpee, MA; grandchildren: Dave Bishop and his wife Kim, Laura Perry, and Matthew Perry; great-grandson, Dylan. A period of visitation will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023 at Benjamin J. Callahan Funeral Home. 318 Burnside Ave, East Hartford from 4:00pm-6:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Our Lady of Peace Church, 370 May Road, East Hartford at 10:00am. Please meet the Timmerman family directly at church.
