Gertrude W. McPherson

Gertrude “Jerry” Welch McPherson, 91, of East Hartford, loving wife of the late Llewellyn J. McPherson, entered into eternal rest on May 14, 2011. Born in Bangor, Maine, daughter of the late Bernard and Teresa (Kerrigan) Welch.

Jerry had resided in East Hartford for the past 67 years. She was a graduate of John Bapst Catholic High School in Bangor. Prior to her retirement she was employed for 25 years by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford. She was a faithful communicant of St. Christopher Church and a past President of the Pratt & Whiney Aircraft Retirees Club, involved in many of the club’s volunteer projects.

Jerry is survived by a devoted son Stephen and his wife Nancy of Orange, CT, adored granddaughters Lindsay Batastini and her husband Matthew of New York City and Piper Beth McPherson of Washington, DC, as well as several caring nieces and nephews of Maine.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 18th, at 11am, at Saint Christopher Church, 583 Brewer Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow in Silver Lane Cemetery. Friends may call at the Benjamin J. Callahan Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, on Tuesday, May 17th, from 4 to 6pm.

The family is most appreciative of the compassionate care given by the staff at the Masonicare Health Center in Wallingford, CT.
