She was born December 24, 1921 in Nicktown, PA, the youngest daughter to the late Augustine and Malvina (Miller) Miller. After graduation from high school she worked as a waitress until 1943 when she enlisted in the United States Army. She was honorably discharged at the rank of technical staff sergeant. She met her husband, Frank J. Malozzi, also serving in the Army, during WWII and they were married in 1946. They lived briefly in Hartford, CT before moving to East Hartford where they lived together for 55 years. After spending her early married years as a housewife and mother, she returned to work for the Town of East Hartford Housing Authority and retired after 17 years. She moved to St. Joseph’s Living Center in 2009 after an illness prevented her from living in her own home. Grace was an member of St. Mary‘s Church in East Hartford for many years. She had a passion for volunteering, especially donating to the Red Cross and spent many hours at Hartford Hospital holding and comforting babies born to mothers suffering from addiction. She also had a passion for cooking and opened her home to the men and women of the East Hartford Police Department each Thanksgiving so they could enjoy a holiday meal while working away from their own families.
She loved to travel, and went all over the United States by motor home with her husband. At St. Josephs she spent many hours participating in the numerous social activities and she especially loved interacting with the children who visited the home on holidays. Her proudest accomplishment was when she was asked to read a short story about her life in the service during WWII to the children visiting on Veterans Day.
Grace was a truly a devoted loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be dearly missed. Grace is survived by her two sons and daughters in law: Anthony S.
