He was born June 14th, 1942 in Habana Cuba to the late Dr. Enrique J. Casares and Josifina Blanco Casares. He graduated an Auburn University War Eagle, after being a proud member of Brigade 2506, and a veteran of the Bay of Pigs, Cuba.
Henry moved to Glastonbury, CT in 1965, and resided there for the next 50 years. He worked in insurance for the Travelers and Insurope, retiring in 2009 after 44 years. He was an extremely successful businessman, an active member of the community, a loving father and husband, and a friend who was always ready to lend a hand to those in need.
Henry enjoyed spending time at the beaches in Cape Cod and the picnic tables at Orchard Hill. He loved heading to the theater, dancing to Elvis in the living room, and grilling the perfect steak in the backyard. He may be most remembered for lighting up the room with his smile and charm, and of course, his broken English which led to such moments of happiness.
Henry will be dearly missed by his daughter Christi and her husband Tim Treibach of San Diego, CA, his son Peter Casares and his wife Allyson of Auburn, ME, his daughter Carrie and her husband Christopher Balda, of Marlborough CT, his brother Gonzalo Casares of Tampa, FL, his brother Ricardo Casares and wife Silvia, his sister Josefina Llarenas, his seven grandchildren, and of course his dear love, Alicia Almagro of Mansfield, CT.
A special thank you to Henry’s nephrologist Dr. Hugh Carey for being both an amazing doctor and a caring human being.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 19th at 10 am at St. Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Rd., South Glastonbury, CT with a reception to follow.
