

Ivanhoe (Frenchie) Lavoie, 86, of East Hartford, beloved husband of Madeleine Beaulieu Lavoie, passed away after a long battle with cancer on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 surrounded by his family’s love. He was born in Notre Dame du Lac, Quebec and moved to the United States to start his own family. He belonged to the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 478 and was a Heavy Equipment Operator.
Ivanhoe was kind, full of smiles, jokes and laughter and touched everyone he knew in a positive way! Ivanhoe was a devoted husband, father, brother and uncle. He will never be forgotten and will live on in our hearts forever.
In addition to his loving wife, Madeleine, he is survived by his children, his son Richard Lavoie of Enfield, CT and his son Norman Lavoie of Broad Brook, CT. He is the son of the late Thomas Lavoie and Odile Martin. He is one of 15 children. He is survived by his sister Beth Bengel and her husband Earl of Fresno, CA, Bernadette Charest of Levis, Quebec, Regina Senecal and her husband Jean Paul of East Hartford, CT, Germaine Beeman of Inverness, FL, Diana Lavoie of Sherbrooke, Quebec. He is predeceased by his brothers Conrad Lavoie, Adrien Lavoie, Rev. Brother Claude Lavoie, and his sisters Jeanne Boisvert, Adrienne Boisvert, and Alida Lavoie all of Quebec and many loving nieces and nephews.

A mass will be held in his honor at St. Mary’s Church, 15 Maplewood Avenue, East Hartford, at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday May 14, 2013. A luncheon and celebration of his life will be held after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St, Rocky Hill, CT 06067 or Saint Mary’s Church.
