

James D. McCabe, 89, of East Hartford, passed away on Thursday, January 26th, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Rosalyn J. (Keppner) McCabe who passed away on April 1st, 2006. He was born November 28th, 1922 in Pittston, PA to the late Edward J. and Marie A. (McLane) McCabe.
James was born and raised in Pennsylvania, after graduating high school he joined the Marines where he proudly served his country during WWII. After the war, he moved to CT where he earned his bachelor’s degree from UCONN. A talented machinist he worked for various companies including Pratt & Whitney and Lewis Machine. He resided in East Hartford for over 40 years. There he met and married the love of his life Rosalyn and together they raised their family. An ethical and wise man, he instilled his values of fairness and integrity to his children. He was a talented musician with a charismatic personality. People were drawn to his friendly and outgoing demeanor. He was an avid Yankee fan who enjoyed crossword puzzles and his favorite shows “The Price is Right” and “Jeopardy”. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his two sons, James E. McCabe and his wife Suzanne, Edward J. McCabe; his daughter Jennifer H. (McCabe) Bottaro and her husband Mark; his grandsons, Kyle Hill and Jackson Bottaro; his sisters Elinor Stewart and Kathryn Shailer and her husband Richard and several nieces and nephews. James was predeceased by his sister Rosemary Blomstrand.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 30th, 2012, at 12:00 PM, at Benjamin J. Callahan Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, CT 06108. Burial with full military honors will follow in Silver Lane Cemetery. Calling hours will be the morning of the funeral service from 10:00 AM to Noon.
