Janet (Newton) Brooks, 95, of Glastonbury passed away peacefully on July 9, 2013. She was born in Greenwich, CT, a daughter of the late Harold P. and Gwendolyn (Wight) Newton. Janet was a Needlepoint Designer and owned and operated The Needlepoint Shop of Greenwich, CT. She was a long-standing member of the 1st Congregational Church in Old Greenwich, CT. Her husband Captain Benjamin T. Brooks Jr. predeceased her. She is survived by her identical twin sister, Jean N. Mallory, of Kennebunk, ME; daughters: Jean Sleath and her husband Robert of East Hartford; Phyllis Smith and her husband Cotton of Epping, NH; and her son Benjamin T. Brooks III and his wife Virginia of Fortson, GA; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Services and burial are private. Her family wishes to thank the Buckingham Estates MCC and the Glastonbury Health Care Center for the loving and devoted care they provided.
