Predeceased by his mother, Allie Mae Burns and father, Oddly Cornelius Hux, sister Eula Brown and brothers-in-law, Walter Battles and Jack Brown, all of whom he loved dearly. In 2012 he lost the love of his life, wife Katherine, with whom he is now reunited.
He is survived by his loving sister Melba Battles of Stillwater, OK, his eleven children, Michael Hux, Larry Hux, Karen Hux, Roxanne Toce, Maurice Bouchard, Albert Jardin and wife Jackie, Joanne Conti and husband Joe, Joseph Jardin and companion Jane, Katherine Doran and husband Mike, Salvadore Jardin and wife Jacqueline, Joyce Benneche and husband Tom, nieces Brenda, Vicki and Donna, nephews Michael and Daniel, grandchildren Scott, Jessica, Joseph, Brandon, Alicia, Dillon, Erin, Gary, Mary, Devon, Casey, Ryan, Jacob, Sarah, Thomas and Luke and great grandson Alex.
Joe served in the US Air force. He became a Baptist Minister in 1955 and joined his dad as Mason for the Ingalls Lodge No. 128 in 1964. After retiring from his job with the Town of East Hartford, CT, Joe and Kathy moved to Florida and enjoyed the home they created there and were proud to welcome family who visited them. He loved driving trucks, playing his guitar with his family, working on cars with his sons and visiting his sisters and old friends in Oklahoma. Joe’s declining health brought him home to CT and his family. Joe Hux was the best husband, father and friend to everyone in his life. He was honest, good and loyal. He worshipped his wife and children and was a great Poppy to his grandchildren. We will never forget the greatest man we ever met and will forever be grateful that we called him Dad. We thank the warm and caring staff at Salmon Brook Nursing Home who cared for Joe.
A Memorial Service with full military honors will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014, at 6:30PM, at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, CT 06108. Burial will be private.
