John Bruce Manner

John B. Manner 87, best known as “Bruce”, lifelong resident of East Harford, CT and Husband of 57 years to Barbara (Toohey) Manner passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday April 3, 2022. He was born on August 22, 1934 to his late parents John and Ellen (Quinn) Manner.

Bruce retired from Pratt & Whitney aircraft after 33 years of dedicated employment. Upon retirement, he was in the Pratt and Whitney Fire Department. When Bruce was not working or caring for his family, he enjoyed gardening and took great pride in growing the perfect tomato plant.

Besides his wife Barbara, Bruce leaves behind his daughter; Kathleen Manner Leonard and her husband William of East Hartford, his two sons; Kevin Manner of Manchester and David Manner of East Hartford CT. His grandchildren; Ashley Leonard Stoffel and her husband David, Jessica Leonard, John Leonard and Brittany Leonard. His sister Beverly Frank and her husband William of Ventura, CA. and his brother-in-laws; Edward Toohey and his wife Pamela and Brian Toohey. Along with many nieces and nephews.

Bruce was a lifetime parishioner of Saint Rose Church in East Harford where he passed down the devotion of his faith to his family.

Funeral Service will begin at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home located at 318 Burnside Ave. East Hartford, CT 06108 on Thursday April 7, 2022 from 9:30am to 10:30am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday April 7, 2022 at 11:00am at Saint Rose Church located at 33 Church Street, East Harford CT, 06108. Committal Service immediately following at 12:00 pm at Hillside Cemetery East Harford CT. The family request all whom are attending wear Masks, please.

In lieu of flowers donations in Bruce’s name can be made to the Parish of North American Martyrs, 15 Maplewood Ave East Harford, CT 06108 (which comprises the two churches of Saint Mary and Saint Rose).
