

Katherine “Kay” M. Shannon, 99, of East Hartford, passed away Friday, November 11, 2011 at Riverside Health Center. She was born May 4, 1912 in Concord, NH to the late Terence and Katherine (Bellew) Shannon.
Kay graduated the CT Institute of Hairdressing. A longtime resident of East Hartford, she was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church. She was employed by the Cheney Brothers and First National Stores. She enjoyed going to the horse races with Elmer, eating out at Shady Glen and listening to Brad Davis on the radio. She had a gift for making you feel special; she was loved by all who knew her.
Kay will be dearly missed by her loving 15 nieces and nephews; many grand nieces and nephews and one great grandniece. She was predeceased by her special friend, Elmer J. DeLuca; her brothers, John, Terry and Tom; her sister, Margaret and her twin sister Ann Kichnet.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 AM, on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at St. Mary Church, 15 Maplewood Ave., East Hartford, CT 06108. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Manchester. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday (11/15), at 8:30 AM, at Benjamin J. Callahan Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, CT 06108.
